Humankind has an increasing need for energy and electricity. This is evident in how we live and the overall population. Our lifestyles, especially in developed countries, have a large dependence on ‘conveniences’ that we have come to rely on.Examples of this can range anywhere from expecting lights to be on in a public building or business, the luxuries of indoor plumbing, to items as personal as our cell phones, tablets and computers.The energy for powering these items in the past has traditionally been from non-renewable resources. But as we are getting closer to running out of those, at least for general use, we turn to renewable energy. The most abundant source of raw renewable energy is from the Sun. The amount of solar energy exceeds all other renewable sources combined, and is many times over the actual amount of energy in which humanity needsi. The dilemma is the fact we don’t have the ability in which to harness all the energy emitted. What we can do is to utilize photovoltaic, or PV, panels. These are more commonly known as solar panels. This allows us to capture the energy from the sun as a source of renewable energy that does not emit any carbon emissions. This is important because of the fact our usage of fossil fuels will expire sooner than later, as well as reducing the pollution and other negative effects the extraction and processing of non-renewable energy sources causes.
